Pumpkin - Mate
In Latin America it is traditional to drink yerba tea from a pumpkin (= mate) with a suction tube (= Bombilla)
The Mate Pumpkin is a special type of pumpkin, called gourd (spanish: "mate"), and is made from the stem end of a hollowed and sun-dried gourd. Originally, the indigenous people of Argentina, the Guarani Indians have discovered the Mate pumpkin as a vessel and prepared in this yerba tea. Later, he was taken over by the Iberian immigrants and gauchos.
The original, natural shape of the squash is retained, only traditional ornaments of the Latin American culture or other appropriate materials are added. Each pumpkin jar is made by hand and is therefore unique.
Suction tube - Bombilla
The suction tube would initially use the deboned sticks from nature. Today, however, they are made of metal. The filters are even made of silver or gold. With the pumpkin and a suction tube you already have the 2 components to enjoy the traditional yerba tea.
